Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Ram will create history by being screened at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on January 22. The famous anime adaptation of Valmiki’s timeless epic will be screened in its all-new 4K remaster for school children and devotees. The event aims to introduce young children to the timeless Indian epic brought to life through Japanese artistry.
This special screening will be the first This one of its kind event to be held in Maha Kumbh will be held on January 22 from 10 am at Divya Prem Seva Camp in Sector 6 near Netra Kumbh in Prayagraj.
For the first time, the film will be available in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu along with its original English version. The trailer, which will be released on January 10, has already raised anticipation for the remastered version. The film is being distributed by Geek Pictures India. Anil Thadani’s AA Films, and Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.
Originally screened in India at the 24th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in 1993, the anime adaptation was never released in theatres. However, it gained a dedicated fan base during its television reruns in the early 2000s.
The film was directed by Yugo Sako, Ram Mohan and Koichi Sasaki. In the earlier Hindi version, Ramayan actor Arun Govil provided the voice of Ram, Namrata Sahni provided the voice of Sita, and late Amrish Puri provided the voice of Ravana. Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha played the role of the narrator.
