Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most talented actors of his generation in the Hindi film industry. His films like Rockstar, Sanju, Barfi and Tamasha are proof of this. Ranbir will now be seen as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited film Ramayan. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently revealed about Ranbir’s casting in the two-part saga and praised his calm face.

During the new podcast of The Ranveer Show, Mukesh Chhabra revealed why Ranbir Kapoor was chosen to play Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan.

“There is peace on her face, that was what she wanted…Nitesh (Tiwari) had thought of it long back. It is a very right decision. You will know about it after the film releases. (There is peace on her face) Face. This was needed for the film. Nitesh Tiwari had thought of casting her long back and the audience will realise it after watching the film.”

Chhabra has worked with Ranbir in Tamasha, Rockstar, Bombay Velvet, Sanju and Brahmastra. The casting director has also worked with Ranbir in the song Tai Tai Fish from Chillar Party. The casting director said that it is difficult to beat Ranbir in terms of acting. The Ramayan actor is also quite neutral about hits and flops as he has full faith in his acting.

Elaborating on the casting for Ramayan, Mukesh Chhabra said that such films cannot be “calculated or manipulated”. Chhabra said that the team has to be quite honest in its approach while choosing actors for certain roles. When asked about the casting of actors for Ramayan, the casting director said that he tries to find people whose vibe matches the film.

Chhabra also revealed that casting for Ramayan: Part 2 is in the pipeline. Without naming the project, the casting director said he chooses many big actors to play characters, regardless of their off-screen personality.

Apart from the two parts of Ramayan, a Hanuman spin-off is also likely to be in the works. Reportedly, this could be the third part of the saga in the future. Ramayan stars Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol in the roles of Sita, Ravana and Lord Hanuman respectively.
