1. Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
Several pictures from the sets of the Nitesh Tiwari directorial have surfaced on the internet, revealing Ranbir Kapoor’s look as Lord Ram. Earlier this year, an India Today report also revealed that the actor’s look will be very simple.
2. Sai Pallavi as Sita
Sai Pallavi will play the role of Sita opposite the Animal actor. Earlier this year, several leaked photos from the sets of the film created a stir on the internet. In fact, a few months ago, a fan page also gave information about the atmosphere on the sets of Ramayan. The fan also claimed that the actress looked “celestial and beautiful” in the role.
3. Ravi Dubey – Laxman
It is reported that popular television actor Ravi Dubey will play the role of Laxman. The role is crucial in the story of the epic saga, and his character will be present throughout.
4. Yash as Raavan
KGF star Yash will play another important role in the role of Raavan. Yash, the co-producer of the film, will also have an equal stake in the film. According to our sources, he was initially offered Rs 150 crore by Prime Focus for each part of Ramayana. However, understanding the dynamics and stakes involved, Yash and Namit Malhotra decided to partner equally and present the film to the world.
5. Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha
Earlier this year, a source close to the development shared with us that Nitesh Tiwari and his team were in the final stages of roping in Rakul Preet Singh to play the role of Shurpanakha in Ramayan. A source also shared that the actress considered the film as the actress considers this association with the evergreen tale of Ramayan as a “once in a lifetime opportunity”.
6. Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman
Earlier this year, a source close to the development shared with us that the team has roped in Sunny Deol to play Lord Hanuman in Ramayan. The source said, “Sunny Deol is very excited about the once in a lifetime opportunity to play the role of Lord Hanuman. It is a casting made in heaven as Lord Hanuman is the epitome of strength, and who better than Sunny Deol in the current times to play this role with utmost conviction.”
7. Bobby Deol as Kumbhakaran
Earlier in January this year, we reported that the makers are keen to rope in Bobby Deol for the role of Kumbhakaran, however, they are yet to receive a response from the actor. Since then, there has been no update regarding the confirmation.
8. Lara Dutta as Princess Kaikeyi
According to our sources, the makers wanted to rope in actors who were apt to play these characters and the makers found Lara Dutta to be the perfect choice for the role of Rajkumari Kaikeyi, King Dasharath’s third wife. In fact, the actress’ shooting photos were also leaked online.
9. Vijay Sethupathi as Vibhishana
Earlier this year, a source close to the development shared with us that Vijay Sethupathi was in talks to play Raavan’s brother Vibhishana in Ramayan. It was also revealed that the director walked the young actor through the script and “Vijay was very impressed with the narration and visuals” following which he also showed his interest in the film.
10. Shishir Sharma as Sage Vasishta
Veteran actor Shishir Sharma will play the role of Lord Ram’s guru Rishi Vasishtha in the Nitesh Tiwari-directed Ramayan. While speaking to Hindustan Times earlier this year, he had described the film as “a very big and massive project”. He said the scale of the film is so huge that it “amazing with its magnum opus”, which cannot be measured.
11. Kunal Kapoor – Indra Dev
Just a few days ago, Pinkvilla exclusively told you that Kunal Kapoor will play the role of Indra Dev in this film. Recently, we came to know that he will play the role of Indra Dev in this film. A source told that he will start shooting for his character in August and the actor is excited to start this journey.
12. Indira Krishna as Kausalya
According to reports, veteran actress Indira Krishnan has been roped in to play the role of Kaushalya, the biological mother of Lord Ram. The actress has been constantly sharing pictures with Ranbir from the sets of the film.
13. Arun Govil as King Dasharatha
There is a lot of buzz on the internet that veteran actor Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, will play the role of King Dasharath. In the pictures leaked on the internet, he can also be seen with a long beard and wearing a crown on his head.
14. Kiara Sadh – Young Sita
In several exclusive stories of Pinkvilla, we told you that child artiste Kiara Sadh will play the role of young Sita in the film. She is best known for her role in the TV show Pandya Store.
It is worth mentioning here that the makers had earlier planned a trilogy series but it was later finalised as a two-part film. Reflecting on this decision, a source close to the development had shared with us earlier in May this year that given the scale and magnitude of the film, the makers have opted for a two-part approach to narrate the story.
