Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has reduced the ongoing tension in Nepal, where a temporary social media ban staged a massive protest. Sharing his views on X, Verma said that a similar step in India is ‘unimaginable’.

In his tweet, RGV said that no one can ever predict such incidents and expressed doubt about the possibility of a situation like Nepal in India. He wrote, “Nepal’s position in India is a pure nonsense, because no one on 7 September … On September 8, it can guess what will happen on September 8, so no one will be ‘that’ this will not happen ‘.”

While Nepal has returned its ban ever since, Verma said that no government in India will try such a step. He said, “But to ensure that social media ban will never happen, as any government will never dare to try for fear of burning itself like Nepal (SIC).”

The ban in Nepal gave birth to a significant backlash, which was eventually a lead to its return. Varma described this reverse as a victory for freedom of expression.

In his previous post on X, he commented, “A nonsense scared Nepal government has hurriedly banned it on social media, a major victory for all people to ensure that they yearn for their worthy freedom of expression.

Nepal protests were injured 30 dead and more than 1,000 were injured. As Nepal gradually returns to normal condition, the days after the violent demonstrations led by General Z protesters forced Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to resign, there is an intense discussion among various stakeholders about the future of the country. The Nepal army has imposed nationwide sanctions, names such as former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah, and former Electricity Board CEO Kulman Guising are allegedly being considered by General Z protesters to lead an interim government.
