Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma announces the next installment of his popular political crime franchise Government. The director revealed government 4 Shooting will begin soon, marking the return of one of his most acclaimed film series.

Speaking on the inauguration day of Red Lorry Film FestivalVarma shared that the production of the sequel is going to start very soon. “I am making government 4. I am starting it from next month,” he said while replying to a question during the session.

The filmmaker also briefly talked about another upcoming project titled syndicateOf which he jokingly said that it would “wash away all my sins.”

Original GovernmentReleased in 2005, it starred Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role of Subhash Nagre, a powerful political figure inspired by real-life power structures. Abhishek Bachchan played the role of his on-screen son Shankar and the film became a critically acclaimed political drama.

The franchise expanded with its sequel, government secretWhich was released in 2008 and featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Anita Rajan. Varma was a special presence at the Red Lorry Film Festival event Screening of his cult classic Shiva. Reflecting on the film, the director talked about the creative influences behind it and how global cinema shaped his visual style.

“Definitely, some of the shots of Shiva were inspired by Spielberg’s style of taking shots,” RGV said, referring to famed filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

He also said that the thematic inspiration for the film came from path of the dragonStarring martial arts icon Bruce Lee. According to Varma, he adapted the original premise to a completely different setting during the making of that film. Shiva.
