Amidst the success of Marco, another film has entered the Mollywood box office. Directed by Jofin T. Chacko, Rakshatraam releases on screens on January 9, 2025. Starring Asif Ali in the lead role, the mysterious crime film has completed three days of its release and is doing very well in Kerala.
Rakshastram adds Rs 3 crore to its earnings in Kerala; The total reached Rs 7 crore
Rakshastram started its journey with Rs 1.90 crore on opening day in Kerala. On the second day, the Asif Ali starrer collected Rs 2.10 crore with a growth of 10-12 percent. Now, on the third day of its release, the recent release in Malayalam grew by almost 50 percent and collected Rs 3 crore.
The three-day collection of Rakshastram now stands at Rs 7 crore in its home state. Sunday should be the biggest day for the film, where it will earn over Rs 3.50 crore for an extended weekend of Rs 10.50 crore. The global weekend of the film should be Rs 25 crore or more by the end of Sunday.

Produced by Kavya Film Company and N Mega Media, Rakshastram stars Asif Ali in the role of a policeman and CI Vivek Gopinath. The star cast of the film also includes Anaswara Rajan, Mammootty, Siddique and Jagadish. The trailer of the latest release was released on YouTube in December 2024. Asif Ali was previously seen in the Malayalam mystery film Kishkindha Kaandam, which was released last year.
Directed by Joffin T. Chacko, the film faces competition from Marco at the Malayalam box office. The Unni Mukundan-starrer is the fifth highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2024. It remains to be seen whether Asif Ali’s Rakshatraam can outperform Marco in Kerala in the coming days.
