Actor Rajkumar Rao surrendered before the court of Judge Shrijan Shukla in Jailandhar on Monday, 28 July, in relation to a case, in relation to a case related to hurting religious sentiments with a controversial poster during his 2017 film Behen Hoi Teri’s promotion. An arrest warrant was issued against Rao to fail to appear before the court.

In another hearing on July 30, Rao’s lawyer, advocate Darshan Singh Dayal argued that his client was given relief from the court once he was involved in the investigation. The police had completed the investigation and filed a charge sheet. However, the summons sent by the court was addressed for an old residence in Prem Nagar, Gurgaon, where Rao is no longer.

Raksha informed the court that Rao currently lives in Oberoi Springs in Andheri West, Mumbai, and did not receive the court summons. Once he became aware of the case, he immediately surrendered before the court. Accepting the explanation, the court granted bail to Rajkumar Rao.

According to ANI, Advocate Darshan Dayal said, “The FIR was registered under Section 295A (Act entered into the Act), Section 120B (Criminal conspiracy) and Section 67 of the IT Act, due to which non-qualified warrants were also issued against the actor.”

The advocate further said that Shruti Haasan was acquitted after the court was not guilty. Meanwhile, the director of the film, Ajay’s Pannalal, appeared before the court today, and his petition has also been filed.
The petition further stated that the actor was only portraying a character in the film, where he played the role of Lord Shiva as part of a Jagran Mandali in his role. It emphasized that the poster was purely an artistic expression, with no intention of humiliating or hurting the religious sentiments of any community.

Meanwhile, the actor is expecting his first child with his wife Patilekha. The couple declared pregnancy in July.
