Superstar Rajinikanth’s action thriller Cool was released in theaters on August 14, 2025. The film was given a certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and now, the producers are challenging the decision in the court.
Why is the Colie team challenging the A-Rated Certificate by CBFC?
According to a Times report, the manufacturers of the Cool have fought the CBFC’s decision to give the film an A-Retured certificate, claiming that they have limited their reach to a wider audience.
Earlier, Justice TV Thomilselvi accepted the petition, in which the manufacturer, Sun Pictures argued that the action sequences of the cool were equal to both of KGF and Beast, both were given U/A certificate.
However, CBFC replied to the Madras High Court, stating that Sun TV Network Limited had refused to cut the required deduction to be eligible for the U/A certificate and accepted the A certificate instead.
Additional Solicitor General Sundarson said, “At the time of hearing, it was proposed to them that if they want a U/A certificate, something else would have to be cut. He supported a support that we did not want any deduction. He accepted the A certificate.”
Additional Solicitor General also requested the High Court to provide CBFC time by August 25, 2025 to file a counter-affection.
