Rajinikanth’s family gather in Goa ahead of the closing ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The event has been organized to honor the actor on completing 50 years in the film industry.

In a recently surfaced picture, Rajinikanth is seen posing with his entire family amid preparations for the event in the city.

On reaching Goa, Rajinikanth was welcomed by the hotel staff and fans. A video shared on social media showed him entering a hotel, where he was welcomed by the playing of drums, while he greeted the crowd with folded hands. The actor wore a beige shirt and black track pants during his arrival.

This year’s IFFI took place in Goa from November 20 to 28, and was attended by filmmakers and artistes from across the world. The festival celebrated not only the achievements of Rajinikanth but also major milestones in the broader landscape of Indian and international cinema.

According to IFFI organisers, this year’s event featured 13 world premieres, five international premieres and 44 Asian premieres. It provided a platform for both new and experienced filmmakers.

Rajinikanth will be honored during the closing ceremony in recognition of his five decades in the industry. Organizers have said that his career will continue to inspire both filmmakers and actors.

The festival celebrated the centenaries of notable filmmakers and artistes including Guru Dutt, Raj Khosla, Ritwik Ghatak, P Bhanumathi, Bhupen Hazarika and Salil Choudhary by screening restored classics of their works.

IFFI 2025 presented 25 feature films, 20 non-feature films and five debut feature films in the Indian Panorama section, showcasing the evolving narrative landscape of Indian cinema and promoting voices from across the country.
