Raja Saab is nearing its grand release this weekend. Starring Prabhas in the lead role, the horror-comedy film grossed over Rs. Its total advance bookings for the premiere and opening day at international locations were 1.30 million. Considered to be the most expensive horror-comedy film of Indian cinema, The Raja Saab has seen its best growth to date in North America, which is usually a niche destination for Telugu films.
The film grossed approximately US$890K in its advance booking in North America; Of which US$715,000 was earned in the US alone, with over 25,000 tickets sold in over 1400 shows at 513 venues. It is expected to see a huge surge in the next two days before its premiere. The Prabhas starrer received US$230K from the United Kingdom and Europe belt, while Australia and New Zealand contributed US$120K.
Raja Saab will benefit in the international markets as Jana Nayagan is no longer coming on the same day. The Thalapathy Vijay starrer has now been postponed to a later date. Compared to Prabhas’ previous films, the pre-sales of The Raja Saab are somewhat lacking. The trailer was launched last week, which received mixed reviews on the internet. Although the film is off to a good start, its fate will largely depend on how the word-of-mouth goes.
