Raja Saab collected Rs. Earned around Rs 67 crore on its first day in India. This includes Rs. 12 crore previews from Thursday night and Rs. 55 crores on Friday. At face value, this is a huge number, ranking among the twenty highest first day collections at the Indian box office. That said, considering how the Tollywood box office operates, it is a fairly average opening for the film.
For Prabhas, this is the second lowest first day opening in recent years, ahead only of Radhe Shyam. In terms of admissions, this could prove to be its lowest opening day.
The film made Rs. Earned Rs. It grossed around Rs 50 crore in Telugu states on the first day, which is technically the seventh highest opening of all time. However, this ranking needs context. From 2024 onwards, the opening day figures have gone to another level in Telugu states, especially Andhra Pradesh, following a steep hike in ticket prices. With big films now starting at Rs. 70 crores on the first day, this ranking is not that important.
Prabhas’ Garh Nizam did somewhat better with Rs. Opening day 19.75 crores. Here, the film faced problems with increasing ticket prices, resulting in a last-minute advance opening. The delay meant that the film missed out on a huge preview number, as it had to settle for limited shows at normal ticket prices, earning only Rs. 60 lakhs.
Elsewhere, Karnataka had a decent first day, while the dubbed versions in Tamil Nadu and Kerala largely flopped. The Hindi-dubbed version of the film also had a slow start.
Raja Saab costs a lot, north of Rs. 400 crore, and recovery is highly dependent on theatricality, with non-theatrical revenue streams declining. Although the opening is below average, the film has a highly lucrative holiday period in the coming days. However, the initial audience reception is not instilling much confidence at this stage.
