On Sunday, Raja Saab’s business once again declined and the collection fell to Rs. Around 20.50 crores at the Indian box office. With this, the film completed its three-day opening weekend at just Rs. Approximately Rs 114 crore after bringing in Rs. Earned around Rs 66 crore on the first day.
The film suffered an even worse slump overseas, where it could only collect US$225K on Sunday, less than 10 percent of its opening day. It grossed US$3.40 million (₹30.50 crore) at the worldwide box office in the overseas weekend. 144.50 crores, ending at less than Rs. 150 crores. Going away from this trend, Rs. Had it not been for the Sankranti holidays, Rs 200 crore would have been an impossible task. It may still fall under this, but Sankranti gives it a chance as Telugu states will get some collections during the week.
Be it Telugu states or elsewhere, the film has performed disappointingly everywhere. The situation in coastal Andhra was somewhat better due to holiday support, but the situation remained worse in other places over the weekend. Yesterday, Nizam, which had performed relatively well on the first day, crashed with a fall of 42 per cent compared to Saturday. The Hindi version, which generally does well, dropped on every day of the weekend and that’s a lot for the film.
Raja Saab costs a lot, north of Rs. 400 crore, and recovery is highly dependent on theatricality, with non-theatrical revenue streams declining. Although the film has a highly lucrative holiday season in the coming days, its fate has been sealed by a poor start followed by a disappointing trend.
