The ongoing #MeToo controversy in the Malayalam industry has taken a new turn, as actress Radhikaa Sarathkumar reacted to superstar Rajinikanth’s recent comment on the Hema committee report at an event in Chennai. Speaking about the same to India Today, the veteran actress said, “If he knew, he would have commented. He didn’t know, so he didn’t.”
The veteran actor’s comments come after Thalaivar was recently asked about his views on the Me Too allegations being levelled in the Malayalam cinema industry. Reacting to this and distancing himself from the controversy, Rajinikanth said, “I don’t know… I don’t know anything about this. Sorry.”
Further, stressing on the silence of big actors on the issue, the actress said that their silence could set a wrong precedent. Radhika Sarathkumar added, “They should just come out and express solidarity with the women who have been wronged.”
Meanwhile, in another interview with a Malayalam regional channel, Radhika shocked everyone by talking about hidden cameras inside a vanity van of a film set. This time, talking about the same, she said that the Special Investigation Team called her, and she appreciated them for being proactive and taking immediate action.
Apart from this, Radhika Sarathkumar also reacted to men questioning women for not reporting harassment immediately. She said that we need to consider the status of women. The actress also stressed that from now on there should be a powerful committee to prevent such incidents, such as a strong HR team consisting of trustworthy people.
