Trigger warning: This article contains references to sexual abuse.
Radhikaa Sarathkumar was recently spotted in an interview where the veteran actress revealed a disturbing incident that happened during the shooting of a film in Kerala. Speaking in the interview, the actress gave examples of men using hidden cameras inside vanity vans to spy on female actors.
The actress told Asianet News that she saw some people watching nude videos of an actress in her vanity van while she was changing clothes. On learning about the matter, the actress inquired about this behaviour.
Despite sharing the incident that happened during the shooting of a film in Kerala, the actress did not name anyone involved in the incident nor did she reveal which film set it happened on. The actress also revealed that from then on she only uses her hotel room and is cautious about her vanity van.
Talking on the matter, Radhika said, “This system is wrong. After the incident, I told other female actors about the hidden cameras. After the incident, I was scared to go to my vanity van. It is a private place for us to change clothes, relax or eat food.”
The recent revelation by the actress comes in the light of the Hema committee report which has rocked the Malayalam film industry and what goes on inside. As the report has revealed several situations inside the industry and the horrible conditions faced by female actors, many have also levelled allegations of sexual misconduct against leading artistes.
All the members of the actors’ association AMMA have resigned en masse due to the allegations levelled against Jayasurya, Siddique, Mukesh and several other actors. Its president Mohanlal has also resigned from his leadership role and a new management will be formed after elections in a few months.
Moreover, Mohanlal also addressed the media on August 31, 2024, where he accepted the Hema Committee report and revealed how he himself had given a statement on it.
