Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, set an all-time record for an Indian film at the Indian box office on the third day as it grossed nearly Rs 130 crore. Earlier, KGF 2 had done the business of Rs 98 crore (Saturday), Baahubali 2 had done the business of Rs 118.40 crore (Sunday) and RRR had done the business of Rs 111.10 crore (Sunday). Pushpa 2 will definitely create all-time records on the fourth day as well. In short, all the early records at all India and global level have collapsed.
PUshpa 2 earns record Rs 130 crore in India on third day
Pushpa 2 was always expected to be a hit at the box office. The Allu Arjun starrer would have been more of a shock, if not more, than performing at a record level. This shows how big a brand Pushpa is. This is a true critic proof film, something that is rarely made these days. These movies may not be the best movies ever seen, but they have the potential to entertain a wide range of audiences. A large section of the audience who generally does not go to theaters is planning to watch this film and therein lies its success. Aiming to please a wide audience is much better than pleasing a small section of ‘civilized’ audiences, most of whom are very cruel and capricious.
Downing Pushpa 2 won’t help anyone
It’s okay if one doesn’t connect with a film like Pushpa or Pushpa 2. But there is absolutely no need to ruthlessly eliminate it just because it doesn’t match one’s sensibilities. Besides, comments like ‘the country is ruined’ (to appreciate a film like Pushpa) will do no good to anyone. It’s better to show support for movies that look good by buying tickets rather than boasting about the movies that actually bring audiences to theaters.
The support of the film’s target class is shown not by words, but by actions. More than 2 crore people will have come to the theaters by the end of the extended weekend to watch Pushpa 2 and word of mouth suggests that at least 4.5 crore people will have watched Pushpa 2 by the end of its theatrical run.
