A government doctor from Punjab is back in the news after playing a brief role Dhurandhar: RevengeStarring Ranveer Singh, thanks to an unexpected turn of events on the sets.

According to a report in The Tribune, this cameo came when he treated actor Arjun Rampal who was injured during the shooting of the film.

Dr Sunny Ashok, posted at a government health facility in Kalakh village in Ludhiana district, was called to a railway track location near Pakhowal on July 8, 2025, when Rampal suffered a head injury while filming a chase scene. Recalling the moment, he said there was initial concern about the severity of the injury, with fears that hospitalization might be required.

However, after examining the actor, they found that the injury was not serious. “I checked his reaction. Everyone was happy that he was OK,” he told The Tribune.

A few days later, Dr. Ashok was again called for a shoot, this time at Shahnewal airport. After this there was an unexpected association with cinema. He recalled asking Ranveer Singh for a photo, to which the actor jokingly replied, “Bhai, why just a photo, we will take you to the film.” What seemed to be a casual comment soon turned into reality.

Director Aditya Dhar, who is directing the film, reportedly revealed that one scene required medical attention for an injured character played by Ranveer Singh. After this Dr. Ashok was deployed on the spot. He said, “This is my scene in the movie, although it’s a split second.”

The sequence was completed in a single take, with Dhar praising his naturalistic performance. According to Dr. Ashok, the director noted that he did not look at the camera and behaved exactly like a doctor treating an injured person, which was perfect for the scene.

Despite the brevity of his appearance, the cameo has made Dr. Ashok a local celebrity. Friends and acquaintances recognized him in the clip that circulated, and the news quickly spread across social media and messaging groups. He said people have been reaching out to ask about his experience.

Speaking about the actors, Dr. Ashok described both Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal as “very polite and friendly”, adding that the film crew was equally warm and friendly.

Interestingly, his family is already associated with the film industry. His father, Dr. Devinder Ashok, was considered a friend of veteran actor Dharmendra, and had many photographs of him with him and his family.
