Diljit Dosanjh is ready to rock the screen once again. With the teaser of Punjab 95 hitting the streaming platform, fans of the actor-singer are eager to see the film star in a new role. However, the makers of the film have confirmed that the cinematic piece will be released only in international theatres. As the Udta Punjab actor shared the first preview on his Instagram, he also revealed in the caption that there will be no cuts in the entire film.
The teaser starts with Arjun Rampal’s voiceover, where he is seen raising questions on the voting rights of the state. While the teaser lists several historical events, it indicates that the film will be based on activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who set out to solve the mystery behind Sukhdev’s disappearance.
As far as the actor is concerned, Diljit can be seen completely getting into the role in the film, taking pictures and finding clues. Earlier, the Lovebirds singer had shared BTS’s footage of his upcoming project on his Instagram handle. In the pictures, the actor can be seen resting his head on the wall with bloodied make-up on.
Meanwhile, the makers decided to release the film only internationally after the CBFC suggested 120 cuts in the film. The reason behind this was that the film could become a controversial topic.
Furthermore, the film got delayed for almost 2 years and the release date was eventually moved. However, in 2022, the film was screened for Khalra’s family, who praised the efforts and seemed satisfied with the overall story.
Punjab 95 is directed by Honey Trehan and is scheduled to release in theaters on February 7.
