Diljit Dosanjh’s fans had already started the countdown for his upcoming film, Punjab 95. The film, based on the life of Sikh activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, was scheduled to release on February 7. Days after the film’s promising teaser was released, fans were waiting for the biopic-drama to hit the big screen. Meanwhile, the Border 2 actor has just announced the delay in its release.

Diljit Dosanjh and his team made the official announcement about the delay in the release of Punjab 95 on their Instagram Stories. He wrote, “We are extremely saddened and saddened to inform you that the film Punjab 95 will not be released on 7th.th February due to circumstances beyond our control.” In the following story, he shared an image of Khalra. “I pray to the Guru, who personifies the truth, to keep this light burning.”

One such post was shared on Team Dosanjh’s Instagram page. Many internet users reacted to the announcement and expressed hope for the film’s early release. “I really hope it gets the right platform and releases soon; we’ll wait!” “I hope this gets resolved soon,” one user wrote, and another expressed hope.

A few days ago, Diljit Dosanjh had released the teaser of the film. It begins with Arjun Rampal raising questions about the hardships faced by Punjab citing disputes over its rivers, Operation Bluestar, Indira Gandhi’s assassination and the 1984 riots.

The teaser continued with Diljit’s presence as Khalra, who investigates the disappearance of Sukhdev Singh. In the film, Dosanjh’s character promises to solve a missing case by risking his life. Sharing the post on his social media handle, Diljit had written, “Internationally ’95’ will release in theaters only on 7th February, PS Full Movie, No Cuts #ChallengetheDarkness.”

Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film is based on the life of Sikh activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who went missing in September 1995. The film has been delayed for a long time due to conflicts with the CBFC, where 120 cuts have been made. According to an earlier report in Midday, other suggestions were made in the film including a change in the title of the film.
