Actor Rajkumar Rao is full of praise for his wife Patilekha after watching his latest film, Phule. Taking it on Instagram, he called an emotional note a “pure artist” and said that he cannot be a proud. Patilekha played the role of Savitribai Phule in the biography drama, which was released on 25 April.
The inspiring story of Phule, Jyotirio and Savitribai Phule, directed by Anand Mahadevan, tells the two social reformers who fought against caste discrimination and pushed women for the education of women in the 19th century India. The film is getting a lot of positive response, especially for Patilekha’s powerful performance.
Sharing his heartfelt response, Rajkumar posted some pictures of Patilekha from the film and wrote, “@patralekhaa cannot express my feelings after seeing your performance in #Phule. I really impress you to play Savitribai Phule ji, which is such a difficult role to paint. You are really a true artist, #
He also recalled his recent work in the 2024 series IC814: The Kandahar Hijack, saying, “I remember that you call you after watching your phone scene in #IC814 and ask you how you have achieved this magic because I know for the fact that many of our people will not be able to execute it with much purity and culture today.”

Rajkumar also mentioned a scene of Phule, which was particularly standing out, the moment Patilekha’s character slapped a man. He said, “#Phule had a lot of moments that were pure gold for an artist. The way people used to clap in theaters after slapping the man, the man was such a joy to witness the man.”
Citylights the actor continued to show praise, saying, “You are really gifted and no one never lets you tell you. Your determination and flexibility have inspired me a lot. In such a competitive industry, you, my dear, have always worked on your land, and have pushed your limits. You haven’t helped you.”
Phule also played the lead role to Pratik Gandhi. Despite the slow start at the box office, the film is slowly looking for its audience. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is currently busy promoting his upcoming film BHUL Chuk Maa Maa, which is the co-act of Vamik Gabbi. The film will hit theaters on May 9, 2025.
