Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas stole the show as she greeted fans in Telugu at the title launch of her much-awaited film directed by filmmaker SS Rajamouli and starring actor Mahesh Babu. The film, titled ‘Varanasi’, is scheduled to release in summer 2027.
Speaking on stage at the event, Priyanka said, “The energy tonight is electrifying, and it’s all because of you (fans). You guys have come here in such large numbers, for that we are all very grateful to all of you. For the media, not just from India but all over the world, this is a land where cinema is a celebration.”
She said, “I am very happy to be making this film back in my beloved India. I have said it before, and I will say it again, the best and only way to be involved in Telugu cinema is to do it with the greats (pointing towards SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu).”
Talking about Prithviraj Sukumaran, Priyanka said how his character was very scary, but in real life he is equally cute. He also thanked Mahesh Babu and his wife Namrata for their warm hospitality.
