The actor-singer has recorded the Hindi version of George Michael’s ‘Last Christmas’ for Gurinder Chadha’s upcoming festive film ‘Christmas Karma’, which is scheduled to release on November 14. While some fans celebrated her return to music after almost a decade, others weren’t entirely on board with her desi spin on the global Christmas classic.

The track blends George Michael’s timeless tunes with new Hindi lyrics, marking Priyanka’s first major music project after her international singles ‘In My City’ and ‘Exotic’. However, the release immediately divided listeners online – some called it refreshing and nostalgic, and others criticized the lyrical translation and the Hindi-English mix.

One Reddit user wrote, “Destroying one of the most iconic Christmas songs of all time. George Michael is rolling in his grave,” while another commented, “For God’s sake, it’s 2025! Can’t we still write better translated lyrics for copied English songs?” Others expressed similar disappointment over the bilingual approach, with one commenting, “Yes then sing the entire song in English or Hindi. (sic).” Nevertheless, many fans defended Priyanka, calling her effort “bold” and in the “celebratory spirit”. One comment read, “Priyanka singing again?!!!OMG (sic).”
