Prince Harry has been in charge of the Invictus Games since the events began in 2014. While the Duke of Sussex closely oversees the ceremonies and the planning behind the event, his friend Dominic Reed served as CEO of the Invictus Games for ten years. On Thursday, Reed resigned from his position, and the former royal member released a statement explaining how grateful he is to his friend for his leadership.
In the statement, Harry cited Reid’s “tireless efforts” that helped the organization grow and progress in its efforts to improve the lives of wounded military personnel.
Statement issued by Prince Harry
In a statement released on Thursday, Prince Harry expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Reid for taking the Invictus Games to the top level and establishing relationships with 23 countries to improve the lives of wounded and injured service members. “Ten years after the inception of the Invictus Games, we proudly stand as a community of 23 countries spanning every continent, fulfilling their mission to save and transform lives,” the Duke’s statement revealed.
It further read: “I am extremely grateful to my friend Dominic, whose dedication and leadership transformed the Invictus Games from an ambitious idea into an internationally recognised movement.”

Prince Harry honored at EPSY Awards ceremony
Prince Harry was honored at the EPSY Awards, where the Duke of Sussex was presented with the Pat Tillman Recipient Honor. The former royal family member thanked the family of the late Pat Tillman in his speech. “I stand here not just as Prince Harry, the Pat Tillman Award recipient, but as the voice of the Invictus Games Foundation and the thousands of veterans and service personnel from 20 countries who have made the Invictus Games a reality,” the prince said.
He added, “This award is theirs, not mine. Nevertheless, it is very important to me to highlight these colleagues, athletes and their wonderful families for their accomplishments, their enthusiasm and their courage at every opportunity, especially on nights like this in front of people like you.”
