Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone shared an inspirational message on Instagram as she explained her relationship with food and her diet in a recent self-care post. The actress, who is pregnant with her first child, explained the true meaning of ‘diet’ and what it means to her.
Deepika stressed on the importance of enjoying food without any guilt. The post read, “There are a lot of misconceptions around the word ‘diet’. We often assume that ‘diet’ means starving, eating less and only eating things we don’t like. However, the real meaning of ‘diet’ is all the food and drink a person consumes. The word actually comes from the Greek word ‘diaita’, which means ‘way of life’ (sic).”
Deepika said that one should follow a balanced diet and maintain consistency in it. She said that eating less and depriving oneself of favourite food can work only to some extent. She further wrote, “I have always followed a balanced diet, which is a way of life for me. I have never followed a diet that I cannot stick to consistently or which is a fad.”
The actress also revealed that she loves indulging in her favourite sweets. She concluded, “Now, do I enjoy it? Of course I do, as shown above! But it’s definitely not my lifestyle.”
