Prashant Verma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) seems to be struggling these days. According to a report in Gulte, the star director’s much-awaited project, Baaka, starring South Indian star Prabhas in the lead role, has reportedly been shelved. According to the coverage of 19 February, the project has been cut by the lead, who seemed unhappy after the first few days of filming.
Prashant Verma’s Baka ‘can’t happen’ after Prabhas goes away
Prabhas and Prashant Verma, who fans were excited to work on a project together, might not be able to move forward now. According to reports, the lead star was involved in a test shoot a few months ago. However, after filming, the movie has been shelved and appears to not be happening at all. Reports say, ‘Prabhas was not feeling comfortable after the shooting and it is said that he has rejected the project.’ The actor has not commented on this yet.
The film, tentatively titled Baaka, in which Prabhas was to play the role of Bakasura, was being backed by the famous Mythri Movie Makers. As of now neither the creators nor the director have shared any updates on the filming or cancellation plans.
Earlier, three other projects directed by Prashant Varma also met the same fate. Firstly, Ranveer Singh’s planned Telugu debut with Rakshas (later referred to as Brahma Rakshas) was canceled due to creative differences and scheduling conflicts. Later, Hanu-Mann was revealed to have problems with producer Niranjan Reddy, who he claimed cost too much, contrary to the estimated budget of Rs 20 crore. The film was released in 2024 with Teja Sajja and was a box office hit.
Nandamuri Mokshagna’s first film, which was touted to be in a similar style to Hanu-Mana, was canceled on the day of launch and eventually postponed indefinitely. With the probable end of Baaka, it looks like director Prashant Verma has some stalled projects.
