On World Television Day, India’s national public broadcaster Prasar Bharati took a significant step into the digital streaming world with the launch of its new over-the-top (OTT) platform, Waves.

Sources told India Today that Waves was unveiled because there was a need for an OTT platform with “Indian DNA”.

Marketed as the “new wave of family entertainment”, Waves promises to cater to a wide audience with a wide range of multilingual content.
