"Poor bottom plate": Internet unites with concern for woman in this viral video

Must read

We’ve all been through this situation – standing by the sink, piling up dishes and trying to separate clean and dirty dishes. Recently, a social media user shared a story that struck a chord with many. While she and her husband were putting away their dishes, she expressed a concern that may seem trivial at first glance but surprisingly has a deep emotional undertone. While sorting out the dishes, the man pointed to an unused plate placed at the bottom of the cabinet and told the camera, “I have to take this bottom plate and put it on top of the pile of clean plates before I put it away because he feels bad that the bottom plate doesn’t get used.”

His wife explained her perspective. “Imagine you are the little bottom plate,” she said, “and all the plates placed above you are being used for all these different meals. Then, finally, your turn comes, and you are excited to be used for dinner. But instead, someone places a stack of plates on top of you whose turn has already come.” “Poor bottom plate,” the husband thought. “Exactly what I’m saying!” he said. The video was posted by the wife on Instagram.

The video went viral in no time and the internet started echoing with his views.

“I do this too. Glad I’m not the only one,” one user commented under the video.

Another wrote: “I’ve never felt like this before I’m so sorry. I can’t sleep now thinking about him.”

One comment read: “Are we related or something…I think so too.”

This person offered a different perspective, “Maybe the bottom plate is relieved because it’s living great while the other plates risk their lives every day? Maybe the bottom plate is an introvert and prefers to stay home? Just some thoughts to help you break free from the heaviness of plate shame you’re fighting against.”

“I’ve reached the lowest point in people’s lives,” one user said.
