March 8, 2025, was International Women’s Day. Next to the special occasion, Pinkvilla conducted a survey to allow fans to choose their favorite female-centric film. He has now selected his winner. Read to know the results of the poll.
Results of pole for fan-pushed female-centric film:
To determine the female-centric Bollywood film, the pole which was bowed to fans was held on 6 March 2025. The readers were asked to select between five options: Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, Sridevi’s mother, Vidya Balan’s Shakantala Devi, Taipasi Pannu’s Thapad, and Sonam Kapur’s Nirza.
Voting was open for two days. According to votes, a female character was a favorite film of fans visiting around. It secured 61.90% of the votes, followed by Jigra, which increased to 14.29%. Neerja voted 11.90%.
Mom is a crime thriller released in 2017. The actors along with Sridevi in the lead roles include Akshaye Khanna, Sojal Ali, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Adnan Siddiqui. The film is directed by Ravi Udivar. The film can be streamful on Netflix.
In the film, Sridevi played the role of Devaki, a school teacher, who tries to bind with her step -daughter, Arya. When a heinous crime happens and his step daughter does not get justice, Devaki has vowed to take revenge on the culprits. Sridevi received the Best Actress Award at the National Film Awards for her performance in the film.
Talking about other options in the pole, Jigra is made in the headlines by Alia Bhatt. In the 2024 film, she goes to a large length to protect her brother from a foreign prison. Shakantala Devi starring Vidya Balan is a biopic on the life of a mathematician. Tapsi Pannu’s slap showed the influence of a husband’s slap on a woman. Neerja is the story of a flight attendant that risks her life to save travelers on the kidnapped aircraft.
