Poco will make its debut in the tablet market tomorrow i.e. on August 23. The company is going to launch its first tablet Poco Pad 5G. Ahead of the launch event, Poco has confirmed several details about the tablet including its possible price, battery capacity, and design details. The company has confirmed that the Poco Pad 5G will have a 10,000mAh battery. The tablet is also teased to come with a 12-bit 2.5K resolution display. Apart from this, Poco has also revealed that the Poco Pad 5G will be priced under Rs 24,000.
Poco claims that this tablet is not just a debut but “represents a significant evolution for POCO”. This is an interesting claim as there are rumours that the Poco Pad 5G will be a rebranded Redmi Pad Pro 5G. We are also using the Poco Pad 5G and in terms of design, the Poco Pad is exactly like the Redmi Pad Pro 5G. Also, the suggested price of the Poco Pad 5G is also in line with the Redmi Pad Pro. The latter was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 24,999.
We will only get to know the final specifications of the Poco Pad when it launches in India tomorrow, but if the rumours of it being a rebranded Redmi Pad Pro are true, looking at its specifications will give us an idea of what to expect from the Poco Pad.
The Redmi Pad Pro 5G has been launched in India with a 12.1-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness. The display uses TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, it offers up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of expandable storage. The tablet includes 8-megapixel front and rear cameras, quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, and a 10,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. Running on Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android 14, the tablet also supports 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth v5.2.
Additionally, the Redmi Pad Pro came with different accessories including a keyboard and a stylus. As of now, Poco has not teased or revealed anything about any accessories that will come with the Poco Pad 5G.
The rumours about the rebranding are yet to be confirmed, but looking at the specifications of the global variant of the Poco Pad, it seems true. As per the Poco Global website, the Poco Pad will also feature a 12.1-inch 2.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits brightness. It packs a 10,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor and runs the new HyperOS. The global variant of the Poco Pad also features 8-megapixel front and rear cameras, and has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Features like Home Screen+, Shared Clipboard, Mi Canvas have also debuted on the global variant of the Poco Pad.
It will be interesting to see how Poco “evolves” with the launch of its new tablet. According to a recent IDC report, global tablet shipments in the second quarter of 2024 saw a growth of 22.1 percent year-on-year, indicating growing demand for tablets. However, the affordable tablet market remains relatively narrow. Therefore, Poco’s entry into this segment is a timely and welcome move.
