Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to Delhi after his two-day visit to Russia, during which he attended the 16th BRICS summit in Kazan.
He also met several world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.
He described the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia as “very productive”. He thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin, the people of Russia and their government for their hospitality.
PM Modi took to Instagram to share highlights of his Russia visit. During his visit to Russia, PM Modi addressed two sessions of the BRICS summit held in Kazan under the chairmanship of Russia.
Sharing the video on Twitter, PM Modi said, “The BRICS summit in Kazan was very useful. Had the opportunity to discuss various issues and meet various world leaders. I thank President Putin, the Russian people and the government for their hospitality.” Thank you. These are the main attractions.”

In the video shared by PM Modi on Twitter, he can be seen attending the BRICS summit in Kazan. The video shows PM Modi meeting several world leaders, including UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
On Wednesday, PM Modi also met Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in Kazan. In a post on Twitter, PM Modi said, “It was a pleasure to interact with President Abdelfattah Elsissi.”
He also met with Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Kazan and discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
“Had a wonderful meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Kazan. Ways to boost bilateral cooperation between India and Uzbekistan, including trade and cultural ties, were discussed,” PM Modi posted on Instagram.

The meeting is the first formal structured conversation between the two leaders in five years. The meeting comes after the two countries reached an agreement on resuming regular patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
After meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping, PM Modi said, “India-China relations are important for the people of our countries and for regional and global peace and stability.”
PM Modi expressed happiness at meeting UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan.
Sharing details about his meeting with the UAE President, he wrote, “Pleased to meet my brother, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan.”
In his address at the BRICS summit, PM Modi said that the summit is taking place at a time when the world is going through many uncertainties and challenges including conflicts, adverse climate impacts and cyber threats, putting greater expectations on BRICS. He suggested that the group adopt a people-centric approach to address these challenges.
PM Modi also underlined the need for early adoption of a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations to deal with the menace of terrorism.
He called on BRICS to actively push for global governance reforms. Recalling the Voices of the Global South summit organized by India during its presidency of the G20, he stressed that the grouping should give priority to the concerns of the Global South.
PM Modi said the New Development Bank’s regional presence, including India’s GIFT City, has created new value and impact.
Highlighting BRICS’ activities to promote economic growth, he emphasized that its efforts on trade facilitation in agriculture, flexible supply chains, e-commerce and special economic zones have created new opportunities.
He underlined the need to give priority to small and medium industries. He said the India-initiated BRICS Startup Forum, scheduled to be launched this year, will add significant value to the BRICS economic agenda.
The Prime Minister explained in detail about the recent green initiatives taken by India including the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Mission Jeevan and the Green Credit Initiative announced during COP28. He invited BRICS countries to join these initiatives.
On Tuesday, PM Modi held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan. PM Modi invited Putin to visit India for the 23rd India-Russia annual summit next year.
The two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation in various fields including political, economic, defence, energy and people-to-people relations, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release.
In a post on Twitter, PM Modi said, “Had an excellent meeting with President Putin. Relations between India and Russia are deep. Our conversation focused on how to further strengthen our bilateral partnership in various sectors.” Let it be given.”
This was their second meeting this year as the two leaders had earlier met in Moscow for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit in July 2024.
PM Modi also held a meeting with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian and discussed ways to deepen bilateral ties in future areas.
PM Modi posted on Twitter, “Had a very good meeting with the President of Iran, Mr. Masoud Pezeshkian. We reviewed the entire range of relations between our countries. We also discussed ways to deepen ties in future areas. “
The visit is PM Modi’s second visit to Russia this year, as he visited Moscow for the annual India-Russia summit in July.
