Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Russian President Vladimir Putin has received an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India and the dates of his visit will be determined in early 2025.
Addressing a briefing, Ushakov said there is an agreement between Putin and PM Modi to meet once a year and according to the Russian Embassy in India, this time it is Russia’s turn.
“There is an agreement between our leaders to meet once a year. This time it is our turn,” the diplomat said. He further said, ‘We have received Mr Modi’s invitation and we will definitely consider it positively.’
“We will find out the tentative dates early next year,” Yuri Ushakov said.
This will be Putin’s first visit to India since the conflict between Ukraine and Russia broke out in 2022. India has always advocated “peace and diplomacy” to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
According to the Russian Embassy in India, Putin and PM Modi remain in regular touch, holding phone-call conversations once every two months. Both the leaders also hold personal meetings. This year, the two leaders met twice when PM Modi visited Moscow to attend the 22nd Russia-India summit in July.
PM Modi’s official visit to Russia in July was his first bilateral visit after assuming office for the third time. PM Modi was also awarded Russia’s highest national award “The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle” for his contribution in promoting India-Russia relations.
From a warm hug to driving an electric car for ‘friend’ PM Modi, the chemistry between the leaders made headlines. During his visit to Russia, PM Modi held a bilateral meeting and an informal meeting with Putin. The two leaders also visited the Rosatom Pavilion at the VDNKh Exhibition Center in Moscow.
In October, PM Modi went to Kazan, Russia on a two-day visit to attend the BRICS summit. He thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin, the people of Russia and their government for their hospitality. PM Modi took to Instagram to share highlights of his Russia visit.
