In his petition, Namboodiri said that the teaser “shocked his conscience” by portraying Kerala in a manner that could damage the state’s reputation. They argue that the content has the potential to tarnish the entire region and misrepresent its social fabric.

The petitioner further claims that the trailer narrates the stories of three women from Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan who allegedly fall into the trap of terrorist groups who use “weapon romance” to convert unmarried women and change the demographic structure of the country. According to the petition, the statements made by the characters in the teaser directly in front of the camera may have the potential to create a law and order situation.

Namboodiri has also objected to the title of the film and argued that it falsely associates the alleged incidents with Kerala in particular. The petition warns that the trailer and the title together “have the potential to stigmatize the entire regional population, disturb public order and incite communal and regional disharmony.”

The petition demands a ban on its release and public display The Kerala Story 2 – Goes BeyondWhich is going to be released in theaters on February 27, 2026.
