Google has just launched its flagship Pixel 9 series and rumours about the next premium model have started to surface online. The first render of the Pixel 9a is making the rounds on the internet, which suggests that the device may come with a refreshing design. Along with this leak, there are also rumours about the launch of the Pixel 9a. Here’s everything you need to know.
First, let’s talk about the leaked design of the Pixel 9a smartphone. This render comes from a (now deleted) private Vietnamese Pixel fan group on Facebook, shared by ShrimpApplePro on X. It shows that the next Pixel A series phone will have a boxy design with no camera bump at the back. We can see a dual rear camera system in it, with the camera module being completely flat.
This design used to be popular years ago to give users a clean look, but the brand started offering phones with bigger rear camera modules, saying this helps them fit bigger sensors for a better camera experience. We can also see flat side rails, a USB-C port, and a SIM tray. The device has a metal build for solid durability. It also looks like the handset could be offered in a glossy black colour model.
But, since this is an early render of the Pixel 9a and the image is not very clear, people are advised not to take this information as completely true. Also, early renders are mostly not accurate. So then, how far are we from the launch of the Pixel 9a smartphone?
Well, nothing has been officially revealed yet. But, leaker ShrimpApplePro X (previously on Twitter) is claiming that the Pixel 9a could launch later this year and will be sold in four colours. This information doesn’t seem to be accurate as Google announced the Pixel 8a smartphone just a few months ago and the company has a track record of launching its latest Pixel A series phones at/around the Google I/O developer event.
The Pixel 7a and Pixel 8a were launched in May. Hence, the Pixel 9a is also expected to launch in May next year with the new Tensor G4 chipset. This chip is currently powering the latest Pixel 9 flagship phone.
