The new Pixel 9 series consists of four members and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the last entry and is a much more refined device than the first-generation Pixel Fold, which looked quite outdated compared to the new crop of foldables.
Google has completely changed the design of its Pixel 9 Pro Fold, making it taller and thinner than its previous model. The second-generation folding Pixel adopts a square shape with about 15.5mm difference in height from the Pixel Fold, which even surpasses Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 in this case.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold measures 10.5mm in size and just 5.1mm when opened. It also weighs 257 grams, making it more comfortable to use. Another notable design change comes in the hinge that now opens completely flat – something that the first-generation Pixel Fold didn’t have. It is also IPX8 water-resistant.
Thanks to the new ratio, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold fits in a larger display with a 6.3-inch cover screen and a square-like 8-inch folding screen. Both are OLEDs with FHD+ resolution, adaptive 120Hz refresh rates and peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits. Both panels also have the same 10MP selfie camera.

At the back, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold features an improved camera setup over its predecessor. It has a 48MP main shooter, a 10.5MP telephoto lens (5x optical zoom), and an updated 12MP ultrawide module.
The Pixel 9 Pro is powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 chipset which is built on Samsung’s 4nm process and has 1x Cortex-X4 Prime core @ 3.1GHz, 3x Cortex-A720 @ 2.6GHz and 4x Cortex-A520 cores @ 1.95GHz. You can configure the 9 Pro Fold with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
Like its Pixel 9 siblings, the 9 Pro Fold will come with Android 14 and all the new Google AI features, including on-device Gemini Nano, Pixel Screenshot, improved Magic Editor, and Add Me functionality to insert people into photos they weren’t originally a part of.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will get software updates for 7 years. Google has provided a 4,650 mAh battery, which the company claims will last up to 24 hours with normal use. Wired charging is limited to 21W.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is available in two colours – Porcelain and Obsidian. It is priced at $1,799/€1,899/£1,749 For 256 GB Trim and $1,919/€2,029/1,869 For 512GB Edition. Google is offering a free storage upgrade for orders placed from now until September 5. Actual deliveries will begin on September 4.
