If true, the rumor sim slot of Pixel 10 in the US will mark another nail in the coffin for the physical SIM card, the users carry forward in the ESIM era, whether they are ready or not.

In short

  • Pixel 10 series can drop physical sim trays for ESIM-ONLY US
  • Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL to support dual active esims
  • Pixel 10 Pro Folders Possibly Physical SIM Slot is likely to maintain

Rumors are roaming once again in the pixel land, and this time they can make a big change for the upcoming major series of Google. Pixel 10 families, expected of some time next year, can just be goodbye to a small metal component which is part of every smartphone from the early days: Humble SIM card tray.

According to a new post by the famous tipster Ivan Blass on X (East), Google is allegedly plotting to strip the physical SIM slot from three of its next-gene handsets: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. Instead, these devices will fully rely on ESIM technology, in particular, two active ESIM slots that keep you connected. In other words, if this leak is correct, you will never have to re -poke your phone with that small pin, although you can also lose the ability to swap the moving sims quickly.

Interestingly, Blass claims that the Pixel 10 Pro fold, the foldable is expected to be launched with the rest of the line-up, will still hang on its physical sim tray. This is almost the same as Google has decided that foldable owners are worth biting old school flexibility.

But there is another wrinkle: Blass replied to a curious follower whether this SIM tray will be a global decision or a field-specific. Answer his? The ESIM-Key Steps may be limited to the United States. If so, buyers in other markets can still achieve their favorite SIM slots, however, as usual, it remains unconfirmed.

Now, while the leak is complicated, it is far from bulletproof. For the beginning, the Blass is usually a deadpane, detail-first type tipster, but this post began with a strangely vague “tipster suggestion”, which is unusual for someone with its track record. Then there is a case of other pixel 10 leaks that we have already seen. The initial CAD-based render showed a completely simple SIM slot in all models. Even real -life prototype images painted a SIM tray in the frames that came out online. It does not scream exactly the “ESIM Revolution”.

It is also worth indicating that the images we have seen in recent weeks are not shown in great detail the top edge of the phone, where the SIM slot will usually appear. This simply leaves enough secret for speculation. And thrive it: The answers under Blass’s post quickly filled with strong opinion.

Some pixel fans see this possible change as indispensable. Apple has already gone to esim-nailly with its US iPhone 14 and 15 models, and writing may be on the wall for physical sims in some fields. ESIMS can make devices more waterproofing, freeing the internal space for other components, and digitally doing everything can simplify network switching for comfortable people.

Other, however, are less enthusiastic. Passengers, in particular, often prefer a physical sim slot as it makes the purchase and popping quick and painless in a local SIM card. With ESIMS, the process can be more lashed out – and if your phone is broken, transferring ESIM into another device is always not straight as a card exchange.

If Google follows with this change, it can walk on a criterion between innovation and separate a part of its audience. In the US, the infection for ESIMS has slowed down but stable, embracing major carriers technology. Nevertheless, there are many people who just prefer assurance of having a physical card they can hold in their hands.

Of course, every chance is that this rumor is a wrong alarm, or at least one before a time. Google can only test the ESIM-Caval model, without committing to dig the sim tray everywhere, or discover a regional rollout. Finally, smartphone manufacturers often test several hardware configurations before settling on final production design.

As long as we do not see more concrete leaks, or hear from Google, it is wise to handle the salt shaker. But if you are loyal to a dye-hard SIM card living in the US, you may want to brace yourself for the possibility that your next pixel can miss the small slot you have been using for years. On the bright side, you will no longer have to rumize through the drawer in search of that Fidli SIM Ejector Tool.
