Priyanka Chopra started her career in Bollywood at an early age without any connection with the film industry. Recently, he recalled how opportunities came to him in unique ways. She shared an example from Krrish where filmmaker Rakesh Roshan saw her at a funeral and decided that she could play the female lead in Hrithik Roshan starrer Krrish.
Recently, at the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF), Priyanka Chopra recalled an interesting anecdote from when she came on board for the 2006 film Krrish. She revealed that the film’s director Rakesh Roshan first saw her at a funeral, where she was wearing a white salwar kameez. Her simplicity piqued his interest, and he asked director Abbas-Mustan, who was working with the actress on Aitraaz, to show some glimpses of her performance.
She said, “I was scared that I would never get the role because Priya in Krish was very innocent, as you know, she is not worldly, believes in the goodness of people, and Sonia in Aitraaz was the complete opposite. ” She’ll eat you alive.”
The Citadel actress admitted that she had asked Abbas-Mustan not to show her particular scenes, but she had watched the same scenes. But, despite her fears, Roshan had a different perspective, and decided to cast her in the role.
“I asked him how could you see me in that character and cast me in this character, and he said I wasn’t looking at the character you were playing, I was looking at who you were playing. The scenes were so authentic, and you were an amazing actor, I knew you could play something more, that’s how they cast me,” Chopra recalled.
The Sky Is Pink actress also considered playing the unique character of Sonia in the 2004 film Aitraaz. She confessed that she was about 21 years old and did not fully understand the intricacies of film production. Nevertheless, she accepted the challenge of playing a smart, ambitious and cunning woman on screen.
The same experience taught Priyanka a valuable lesson that played an important role in shaping her acting career. She shared, “I have learned a very important lesson in my career, which is that I should not make decisions based on characters, as an actress, I play many different types of people, But if I start judging what those people do, I won’t be able to do that.” Play them authentically. That was a very important lesson that I learned during Aitraaz, and it benefited me, and it gave me the ability to do many different types of roles.”
Despite all these challenges, Priyanka Chopra worked hard on Aitraaz and Krish and was instrumental in shaping their successful careers.
