The much-awaited human drama series ‘Pill’ starring Riteish Deshmukh is set to premiere on JioCinema Premium on July 12. The platform unveiled the trailer on June 27, which promises to expose the inner workings of the pharmaceutical industry.

‘Pill’ traces the journey of a pill from its manufacture to its consumer, featuring diverse characters such as powerful pharma tycoons, corrupt doctors, medical representatives, compromising drug regulators, politicians, journalists and whistleblowers. The story gets even more interesting when Prakash clashes with the cunning CEO of a pharmaceutical company, played by Pawan Malhotra, who embarks on an honest quest to uncover the truth behind a powerful nexus that prioritises profits over patient welfare.

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and produced by Raj Kumar Gupta, ‘Pill’ also features actor Pawan Malhotra in a pivotal role. The series introduces the audience to Prakash Chauhan, played by Riteish Deshmukh, who investigates the corruption prevalent in the Indian pharmaceutical world.

Talking about his debut series, Riteish Deshmukh said, “It is exciting to step into the world of digital streaming. When you are entrusted with a compelling story like The Pill, there is a huge responsibility to do justice to it. It is interesting to learn about the complexities behind a seemingly simple thing like a pill that impacts our daily lives and health. Being a part of this journey has been incredibly enlightening. Working with visionaries like Raj Kumar Gupta and Ronnie Screwvala, who have put their hearts into this project, is a true honour. Prakash Chauhan is a character of both simplicity and strength, and I am confident that his fight against corrupt pharma players will resonate with the audience.”

The series will start streaming on Jio Cinema from July 12.
