Payal Kapadia on Golden Globes nomination for All We Imagine: Feeling extremely honored
Director Payal Kapadia is ‘very honored’ as her film All We Imagine as Light has received two nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes, including Best Director (Motion Picture) and Best Non-English Language Motion Picture.

Payal Kapadia’s film, All We Imagine as Light, has scored two nominations at the Golden Globes 2025 – in the Best Motion Picture Non-English Language category and in the Best Director (Motion Picture) category.
Commenting on her nomination, Payal Kapadia told India Today Digital, “I am extremely honored by this nomination and grateful to the HFPA for this recognition. It’s a celebration of everyone who worked so diligently on the film. To everyone in India, All We Imagine as Light is still in theaters – please go watch it and support us.”
The recognition comes as All We Imagine as Light continues to attract worldwide attention, having already made waves on the international film circuit. Its success in the Golden Globe nominations adds to the growing appreciation of Indian cinema on the global stage.
All We Imagine as Light has been praised for its powerful and thought-provoking storyline, with many seeing it as a reflection of the struggles and aspirations of modern society. The film’s nomination in such prestigious categories further cements its place among the best in global cinema.
All We Imagine as Light was released theatrically in India on 22 November. It had earlier won international acclaim. It became the first Indian film to win the prestigious Grand Prix at Cannes 2024.
It has also received the Jury Grand Prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Best International Feature at the Gotham Awards, and Best International Film at the New York Film Critics Circle, among many other awards.
The Golden Globe Awards will stream live in India exclusively on Lionsgate Play. Its streaming will start on January 6 from 6.30 am Indian time.
