Payal Kapadia ‘Bhagyashali’ for All We Imagine…OTT release on Savitribai Phule’s anniversary
Filmmaker Payal Kapadia celebrated the release of her film All We Imagine as Light on Disney+Hotstar, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule. The film will debut on the OTT platform on January 3.
Disney+ Hotstar is set to release Payal Kapadia’s much-awaited film, All We Imagine as Light, on January 3, 2025, a date that holds significant historical significance as the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, a leading social reformer and educationist.
Marking the occasion, director Payal Kapadia expressed his feelings on X and wrote, “3rd January! Birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule. How lucky we are that All We Imagine as Light will be releasing on Hotstar on this wonderful day… even with Hindi subscription.”
Talking about the streaming release, director Payal Kapadia said, “I am thrilled with the love that All We Imagine as Light has received from you all. After a successful theatrical run, I am glad that it is now available to watch on Disney+Hotstar. Will be available for.” I’m so excited to now share it with a wider audience.”
Kani Kusruti, who plays Prabha, a troubled woman yearning for her absent husband, said, “When I read the script, what struck me most was Prabha’s intense self-discovery and quiet transformation.”
He further added, “Working with Payal was a serendipitous experience. She creates a workspace where everyone can grow, while also listening carefully and helping us discover our characters carefully.”

The release of the film on this meaningful date aligns with Phule’s legacy of empowerment and progress, adding depth to the event. With the inclusion of Hindi subtitles, the film aims to reach a wider audience, promising to enthrall audiences with its unique story.
It also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film and Payal Kapadia a nomination for Best Director, making her the first Indian female director to achieve this historic feat. This further cements the film’s legacy as one of the most important releases of the year.
It stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, Hrudu Haroon and Azis Nedumangad who have delivered powerful performances in pivotal roles.
