Celine Dion made her much-awaited comeback and finally took the stage at the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony after huge anticipation among fans. Dion closed the opening ceremony by singing the lyrics of L’Hymne à l’amour on Friday, July 26.
The legendary singer returned to the stage and took the mic after being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022. Dion arrived at the event decked out in crystals as she performed alongside a pianist, against a backdrop of glittering Eiffel Towers.
There have been reports for the past few weeks that Dion would perform at the opening ceremony. Although there has been no official announcement about the performance, fans were convinced that Dion would perform after she appeared in Paris ahead of the Olympics. After waiting for almost four hours, the internet was abuzz with the ‘I’m Alive’ singer as she finally took the stage to perform in front of the audience.

Looking like a visionary dressed in white, Dion gave an emotional performance at the opening ceremony. When the star performed her version of L’Hymne à l’amour, the weather couldn’t have been better, as raindrops fell as the singer sang the final song. Dion ended her performance on a touching note, wishing the audience a good night.

Celine Dion struggles with stiff person syndrome
In December 2022, Dion announced that she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome. According to the medical report, the disease causes “a rare, progressive syndrome that affects the nervous system, particularly the brain and spinal cord.”
After being vocal about her suffering, the singer stopped performing in front of her fans and other listeners. Celine Dion last performed at a concert in July 2019, and made her comeback at the Paris Olympics after five years.
