Korean actor Song Kang-ho, best known for his role in the Oscar-winning film Parasite, has officially signed on to appear as a guest star in the second season of Netflix’s popular series Beef.
He will join a cast that includes Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny and Yoon Yuh-jung, as confirmed deadline,
Details about Song’s character are still kept under wraps. However, the upcoming season is expected to present a compelling story about a young couple who unwittingly witness a tense confrontation between their rich boss and his wife. This incident sets off a series of cunning machinations within the elite world of a country club and its powerful Korean billionaire owner.
The first season of Beef, which premiered on Netflix in 2023, was a huge success, garnering eight Emmy Awards, four Critics’ Choice Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and numerous honors from the Screen Actors Guild and other prestigious institutions.
Starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, the inaugural season explored the lives of two strangers whose worlds collide after a road rage incident, a story inspired by creator Lee Sung Jin’s own experiences.
According to Deadline, the second season of Beef will consist of eight episodes, each lasting 30 minutes.
Lee Sung Jin returns as creator, showrunner and executive producer, with Yeyun, Wong, Jake Schreiber, Kitao Sakurai and others also serving as executive producers.
