Pankaj Tripathi’s wife says mother-in-law has not ‘accepted’ her even after years
Actor Pankaj Tripathi and his wife Mridula fell in love with each other when they were in school. Their love story was not without some filmy drama and real conflicts. Mridula talked about this in a recent interview.

Actors Pankaj Tripathi and Mridula have been married for almost 19 years, and yet their struggles as a couple continue. In a recent interview, the actor’s wife talked about not being accepted by her mother-in-law because they had a love marriage at a time when social structures did not allow it.
speaking on conversation with atul YouTube channel, Mridula revealed that she married Pankaj despite the apprehensions of families from both sides. She recalled how she first met the actor at the wedding of her brother, who was getting married to Pankaj’s sister. Mridula said that while their affection for each other grew, she feared that their relationship would not be accepted as she was from a family of high social standing.
“It is still not acceptable. We are not blood relatives, but in our culture, it is unacceptable for a woman to marry into a small family if another woman is already married into such a family,” she said. And because my sister-in-law was married above her position in my family, I could not marry into her family, which was considered to be of lower status.”
Mridula was in ninth grade and Pankaj was in 11th when they first discovered feelings for each other. Later, she was almost married to someone else when she decided to break the news to her father, who gave a surprised reaction. She recalled her father saying, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I don’t waste time looking for boys,” while her mother and sister-in-law felt heartbroken.

Mridula said that it took time for everyone to come forward and accept the relationship, but differences still exist. She said, “There was TehelkaA ruckus (An uproar). Sister in law was not happy, Mother Wasn’t happy. She was worried about how he would take care of me. But gradually, they started accepting us.”
Pankaj, Mridula and their families have come a long way since those days. And despite the reservations, the couple has made peace with moving forward. “My mother-in-law has not accepted me to this day, for the reasons I mentioned earlier. She is still upset about this interaction. But what can we do about it now?” Mridula concluded.
After getting married in 1993, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2006 and named her Aashi Tripathi.
