The highly acclaimed web series Panchayat, produced by TVF and available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, has won the hearts of the audience with its authentic depiction of rural India. While the story appears in the fictional village of Phulera in Uttar Pradesh, an interesting fact is that the series was actually shot in a village in Madhya Pradesh.
While the panchayat has been established in Uttar Pradesh, it was actually filmed in Mahodia village in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh. Fans can also see the panchayat office and the iconic water tank, which can be named as “Rinke Ki Tanki” on the Google Map, which makes the depiction of the village life of the show feel even more authentic.
The story follows Abhishek Tripathi, an engineering graduate, who reluctantly holds the post of Panchayat Secretary due to lack of better jobs.
Played by Jitendra Kumar, Abhishek initially struggles to be compatible with the simplicity and challenges of the village by preparing for his MBA entrance exam. However, over time, he makes an emotional relationship with the villagers, making Phulera feel at home.
The first season released in 2020 introduced the audience to Abhishek’s new life and his humble struggles as he navigated through rural bureaucracy and village politics.
Season 2, who followed in 2022, deeply in his relationship with villagers, especially in his growing bond with Pradhan’s daughter Rinki played by Sanvik. The latest season released in 2025 presented Abhishek with more and more challenges and detected the developed dynamics of his role in the village, making the audience eager for more.
The show offers a contingent of a talented artists who breathe life in their attractive characters. Raghubir Yadav played the role of Brij Bhushan Dubey, Pradhan Pati, while Neena Gupta portrayed the official head Manju Devi.
Chandan Roy gave a standout performance as Vikas, Abhishek’s funny and loyal assistants, while Faisal Malik affects the trusted deputy head. Sanvikaa’s portrayal of Rinki has also resonated with the audience, which brings warmth and attraction to the story. According to reports, the show is ready to return for the fourth season, in which shooting is currently going on.
