AI is the latest discussion. So much so that more traditional brands such as Panasonic are immersing their toes into it. Panasonic, which is a domestic name-literally-is working on an AI-managed app called Miri, which is literally-due to its suit of their home appliances, which is going to allow Panasonic users to connect all their equipment to an app and convert their home into a type of smart space.

Recently, India Today Tech got a glimpse of Meeri and Panasonic’s AI plans in Jhanjar, where the company has a manufacturing plant and where it opened a new experience center.

The Mirley app is not new at all. It was launched in India in 2020, but recently it has started to get AI-operated facilities.

Manish Mishra, Chief Innovation Officer of Panasonic India, said, “5 years ago, the app supported only 4 product categories. After that, in the last few years, we have added other categories.” In 2025, the app can now connect and control Panasonic “refrigerator, washing machines, smart plugs, switches and water heaters”. ,

To prove that this is not just the case, Panasonic displayed how Meeri works. After seeing the demo and trying the app, I can say that it works smoothly. Now, smart connectivity is not new at all. Companies such as Philips, LG and Samsung have a version or two that is showing Panasonic. But a bit that I liked with Mirai is the availability of the preset. For example, if you want a movie night, the app can turn off smart drapes and slow down smart lights with just one tap on the phone.

Mishra said, “Users can also customize these scenes and schedule some orders. If you want the curtains open at a certain time or if you want the air conditioner to raise the temperature after two hours, it can also be determined,” Mishra said.

With the same app – and AI – Panasonic is also trying to provide personal experience with its equipment. “With the help of advanced AI features, we try to understand the daily life of the user. For example, the sleep profile feature on the app helps us understand our users. In this feature, the users can adapt their profiles, schedule AC temperature, light setup and more.”

Panasonic wants a one-stop solution for Meera users. Essentially, it is not only an app to control smart panasonic devices, but also one that can also connect with non-panasonic devices.

Mishra said, “Everything is coming to Mirai now. And it is not only about Panasonic products. We are also supporting third party on this platform.”

The company is doing so by using a protocol called Matter. It is open to other brands and if they choose to apply it in their devices, those devices will also be controlled with Mirai. Essentially, whether it is a smart plug from another company or a light bulb from a separate brand, it will all work together through Mirai.

Manish Sharma, President of Panasonic India, explained, “Matter is a protocol that allows the products of different brands to talk to each other. This means, because our app matters, it will be able to control (other) equipment.”
