OnePlus has finally announced OxygenOS 15, the latest version of its custom Android skin. The company is promising to offer fast performance, advanced AI features and a minimalist design. Although the company has not yet confirmed the eligibility list for OxygenOS 15, it has been revealed that the OnePlus 12 will be the first phone to receive the latest software update. Here’s everything you need to know.
OxygenOS 15 announced: Features list
OxygenOS 15 will come with some big improvements that are expected to make OnePlus phones smoother and more efficient. OnePlus has massively improved the animations with the latest OxygenOS update and although we haven’t tested it for real yet, the videos shown by OnePlus look promising and quite exciting. There are also some AI features like AI Unblur, AI Detail Boost and more, which are very cool and interesting. Keep reading to know more about the features.

So, the first feature is Parallel Processing, which means you will be able to open and close 20 apps consecutively at a faster speed than iOS. As shown in the official video, the transition is smooth without any jitters or delays.
Memory
OxygenOS 15 is also set to provide more storage space to OnePlus phone users. How? The company states that this operating system will use 20 percent less storage space than OxygenOS 14, which is great and will probably please many users. However, this feature will be coming to the next generation OnePlus flagship phones.

AI Features
-There’s a new AI Detail Boost feature, which OnePlus claims can turn low-resolution or cropped images into 4K visuals. According to OnePlus, this feature can automatically identify pixelated images and provide clarity to users with just one click.
-OxygenOS 15 also introduces the AI Unblur feature, which is pretty self-explanatory. OnePlus claims that it effectively fixes blurry images without the need for additional apps.
-Another feature is AI Reflection Eraser. The company says this option can remove both strong and subtle reflections with a single tap.
-An intelligent search feature has also been added that improves on-device search. Users will be able to search and initiate conversations like humans. Whether you’re looking for a specific answer in a file, setting, or note on your smartphone, Intelligent Search interprets your query to deliver relevant results.
-OxygenOS 15 also has the Circle to Search feature, which we have previously seen on Android 14 devices. It helps you quickly identify items in a photo or video. With a simple long press on the navigation bar or home button, this feature will enable you to quickly find images on the screen by drawing a circle or highlighting them. Results are found on the internet by Google.
-Pass Scan enables users to instantly scan paper or digital boarding passes. This feature works from both the camera and the photo album.
-You will also get AI Notes feature in OxygenOS 15. It offers features like formatting, expanding or collapsing content, adjusting formality, ensuring that your notes are polished and well-structured. Additionally, AI Notes is also voice-powered, so you can easily convey your thoughts. The company says that AI Notes can transcribe your words and also remove unnecessary fillers.
-AI Reply is also included in the AI Toolbox, which can be accessed from the Smart Sidebar. This feature understands conversations you have with friends and generates contextually relevant replies. When you’re using chat apps, AI Reply will automatically activate in your AI toolbox.
Gemini integration for real-time responses
In the upcoming OnePlus flagship devices, the Google Gemini app will be integrated as the default AI assistant. According to the company, anyone will be able to solve their queries in a better and faster way by using Gemini Live. You can brainstorm ideas, simplify complex topics, and rehearse key moments with real-time feedback. Gemini Live will soon be available in more than 40 languages. You can talk to Gemini using your voice. This update appears to be what Apple has done with Siri (with Apple Intelligence).
Fresh design, more system features
There are also some design updates, including a brand new boot animation, new icons, more shelf card options, and additional fingerprint unlock style options, introduced in OxygenOS 15.
In terms of system interactions, you’ll notice a new OnePlus OneTake feature. You will be able to cut out elements or objects from any photo and use them as your lock screen wallpaper.
There’s also a new “Share with iPhone” feature to make file sharing between OnePlus and iPhone devices easier. It allows users to transfer documents, images, and video files across different platforms with just a single tap.
OnePlus has also implemented shimmering effects and Gaussian blur in various system scenarios. Additionally, elements like Settings, Notification Bar, and Control Center have been streamlined.
Security
You’ll also notice a new theft protection feature that will help keep your device and data safe before, during, and after theft. When specific theft activities, such as someone suddenly taking your device and trying to run away, are detected, the device automatically locks.
Additional security includes a Remote Lock feature, which allows users to lock their phone using only their phone number without logging into a Google Account. And an offline lock is activated to protect you if a thief tries to take your device offline to extract data if the phone remains offline for a long period of time. Additionally, theft protection functions or sensitive actions like disabling FindMyDevice require biometric verification to add an extra layer of security.
OxygenOS 15 release date revealed
As always, OnePlus will release the beta version first and gradually release the stable version to the public. OnePlus has confirmed that the first open beta version of OxygenOS 15 will be released on October 30 and will first arrive on the OnePlus 12, the company’s current flagship phone.
Although the new AI features look and sound great, they won’t be available immediately. The company has announced that the AI feature will be released for OnePlus products by the end of November. It has also been revealed that select AI features will be made available exclusively on designated models. We will have more information on this in the coming days or weeks.
OxygenOS 15: List of eligible OnePlus phones
For now, the brand has confirmed only one smartphone that will get OxygenOS 15 and that is the OnePlus 12. The company has confirmed that it will reveal more details on its community page in the coming days.
But, we expect OnePlus to roll out OxygenOS 15 in at least 2024 phones like the OnePlus Nord 4, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Nord CE 4, and OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite. Since OnePlus Open is also a premium device, it is also expected to get the update. What about old OnePlus phones? Well, this list is not officially confirmed and OnePlus will probably release the OxygenOS 15 update for more smartphones (new and old).
