Oscar-winning ‘Titanic’ producer Jon Landau dies at 63
Academy Award-winning producer Jon Landau, who financed blockbusters such as “Titanic” and “Avatar,” has died. He was 63.

Oscar-winning producer Jon Landau, who co-produced megahits such as Titanic and Avatar, has died. He was 63. His family announced his death in a statement to the media on Saturday. No cause of death was given.
Director James Cameron, who partnered with Landau on two of modern cinema’s biggest blockbusters ( Titanic and Avatar ), remembered his friend and close collaborator.
“He was my dearest friend and my closest collaborator for 31 years. A part of me has been taken away. His quirky humor, personal charm, enormous generosity of spirit and fierce willpower kept him at the center of our Avatar universe for nearly two decades. His legacy is not just the films he made, but the personal example he set — indomitable, caring, inclusive, tireless, insightful and utterly unique,” Cameron was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.

Avatar star Zoe Saldana mourned the creator’s death on social media, writing, “Your wisdom and support have shaped so many of us in ways we will forever be grateful for. Your legacy will continue to inspire us and guide us on our journey.”
Jon Landau is survived by his wife Julie and their sons Jamie and Jody.
