Oppo Watch X3 unveiled with titanium alloy body, blood glucose sensor and hypertension detection

In addition to the unveiling of the Find N6 foldable flagship, Oppo is launching a new watch today, the Oppo Watch X3. It’s a rounded watch that upgrades last year’s Watch X2 formula – it slims down the body and adds continuous glucose monitoring to the mix.

The X3 is made of TC4 titanium alloy, which is used in the aerospace industry and in medical applications for implants due to its excellent corrosion resistance. The redesigned watch strap features “bamboo joints”, metal connectors between sections of fluororubber.

The display is protected by sapphire glass with a Mohs hardness scale rating of “8+” (sapphire is normally rated at 9). The display is the same 1.5″ LTPO OLED panel with a 466 x 466px resolution as last year. However, the new display is 36% brighter, reaching a peak of 3,000 nits (up from 2,200 nits).

Oppo claims that the Watch X3 is 16% lighter and 6.4% thinner than its predecessor. To put it in more concrete numbers, the watch measures 47.4 mm in diameter and 11.0 mm thick and weighs 43 grams. For comparison, the Watch

The slimming hasn’t come at the expense of the battery – the 646mAh cell is effectively the same size as last year. It can last 3 days in heavy use, 5 days in normal operation and 16 days in battery saver mode. The battery charges at 7.5W and takes 75 minutes to reach 100%. However, if you are in a hurry, a 10-minute charge is enough to last for 24 hours.

The new body also didn’t affect the ruggedness of the watch – it’s rated for 5ATM water resistance, has an IP68 rating and now also has an IP69 rating (for protection against high-pressure water jets).

The advanced sensor suite features a glucose meter – it can provide real-time readings as well as alert you to any anomalies. The watch can also monitor your blood pressure and assess your risk of high blood pressure.

This is on top of the X2’s features like ECG, vascular health readings, heart rate and blood-oxygen tracking, sleep quality assessment with sleep apnea detection, and a wrist temperature sensor.

As usual, the Oppo Watch X3 has presets for over 100 games. It can measure VO2 max, lactate threshold, recovery time, aerobic training effect, heart rate recovery rate and has an AI coach. Dual-band GPS (L1+L5), BeiDou, Galileo and GLONASS provide accurate positioning for outdoor exercise.

For connectivity, the watch has 4G (eSIM), dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2. NFC is also available for access cards and public transportation, but we’ll have to wait for exact NFC specifications on the global version.

The official specifications say the watch is powered by the Snapdragon W5 chipset, but they don’t make it clear whether this is the original chip like the X2 or the more recent W5 Gen 2.
