Introduction and description

The stylish Oppo Reno 12 series has made its debut in Europe, and the Reno 12 Pro is here for review. Oppo has focused more on aesthetics, and the target audience is mostly youngsters and social media content creators.

This is evident from the “two portrait” cameras marketed by Oppo and the attractive design. The handset is quite light and compact for a 6.7-inch smartphone.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro Review

Oppo calls the secondary 2x zoom camera and the selfie cameras “portrait cameras” and we can understand why. The 50MP zoom camera has a wide aperture and a good sensor, while the front-facing unit has the same 50MP sensor but with a 21mm focal length and autofocus. Both units are aided by AI-powered optimizations that are specifically geared towards portrait shooting.

In addition, Oppo has teamed up with MediaTek to further improve the Dimensity 7300 SoC, hence calling it Dimensity 7300-Energy. This version of the chipset is expected to include some under-the-hood optimizations for better energy efficiency.

Surprisingly, the Reno 12 series is one of the few options that also features a microSD card slot along with an IR blaster.

The Reno 12 Pro also has a good display – 6.7-inch with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, while 80W fast charging will probably save you from a dead battery after just 15-20 minutes.

Now, let’s take a deeper look at what the Reno 12 Pro is all about.

Unboxing of Oppo Reno 12 Pro

The Reno 12 Pro comes in a modest retail box that only contains a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer, though the device supports SuperVOOC up to 80W.
