The Oppo Reno 12 series was introduced in China last month, but now Oppo has revealed the global launch date of the series. The upcoming smartphones are promised to come with generative AI features.

The variant launched in China features several generative AI features including AI Portrait and AI LinkBoost. The Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro were launched in the Chinese market in May at a starting price of CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 31,000) and CNY 3,399 (roughly Rs. 39,000) respectively. Some changes are expected in the upcoming global variant.

Expected specifications of Oppo Reno 12 series

The variants released in China run on Android 14-based ColorOS 14. Both the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro feature a 6.7-inch full-HD+ 1.5K curved OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

The standard version is powered by a 4nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8250-Star Speed Edition SoC, while the Pro version features the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition chipset. Both the variants, Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro are equipped with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage.

The camera details of these Chinese variants are the same. Both have a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter. The vanilla model, the Reno 12, has a Sony LYT-600 primary sensor, while the Reno 12 Pro has a Sony IMX890 main sensor.

Both the Oppo Reno 12 models pack a 5,000mAh battery that supports 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. They are IP65 rated to protect against dust and splashes and include in-display fingerprint sensors. However, it is worth noting that all these features have been released in China and may be slightly different from the variants released in India.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro, Reno 12 rumoured design details

Before Oppo could release any more details, there were widespread rumours about the design of the Reno 12 series. According to images leaked by a tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, it appears to be similar to the Chinese variants.

The standard variant is claimed to have a display that is curved on the left and right edges, unlike the Chinese variant of the Oppo Reno 12 which has a display with four curved edges similar to the Reno 12 Pro model.

Meanwhile, the renders leaked by the tipster reveal that the handsets will be equipped with a triple rear camera setup and will have flat edges. Both the volume and power buttons are shown on the right edge of the phone.

Although these are mere rumours, we suggest not to completely trust this information and wait until Oppo releases all the details.
