Oppo introduces new A6 phone with 7,000mAh battery, A6s, A6i+ and A6v also launched

Must read

Oppo already has a large number of devices bearing the “A6” name, but it can always add more – and that’s what it did, adding four more new models. It would be nice if it gave them unique names, but there are only so many letters and numbers available… or something.

So here is the Oppo A6. No, it is not Oppo A6. This new phone (model number PLS120) is slightly smaller with a 6.57” 1080p+ AMOLED display – a higher quality panel than the global version’s 6.75” 720p+ IPS LCD. The new panel also has an under-display fingerprint reader (optical), replacing the side-mounted one.

The most striking feature of both A6 models is the larger 7,000mAh battery – this new version also does 80W SuperVOOC charging and 44W PPS (up from 45W SuperVOOC and 33W PPS on the global A6).

The phone is still powered by the Dimensity 6300 and is available in 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 12/512GB configurations (LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage). A microSD slot is available. The phone has advanced water resistance with IP68 and IP69 ratings, although the global A6 had the same.

The phone has a 50MP rear camera and a 2MP secondary camera as before, but the selfie camera has been increased to 16MP (up from 8MP). As said, the cameras are still capped at 1080p @ 60fps.

The next number is of Oppo A6s. No, not this Oppo A6s. Strangely, this is the opposite of the A6 above – it uses the same basic 6.75” 720p+ LCD as the global A6s model, however, it downgrades the selfie camera from 16MP to 8MP and offers slower 45W SuperVOOC charging for its 7,000mAh battery (down from 80W on the global model A6s).

The Dimensity 6300 chipset remains the same as before, although more generous memory configurations are available: 8/256GB and 12/256GB (LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage). And it houses a microSD slot.

So, how is this new Oppo A6s different from the global A6-no-s? Well… you see… we’re sure someone at Oppo knows the answer. And we’re not done yet.

The Oppo A6i+ is a new combination of letters and numbers, but not a new combination of features. In fact, this is the global A6 again, which, as mentioned above, is very similar to the new A6s. In fact, the A6s and A6i+ have the same model number: PLT120.

Next up is the Oppo A6v, another new letter and number combo and also a new model number: PLT130. This differs from the A6s/A6i+ – it has a 5MP selfie camera (instead of 8MP), a smaller 6,500mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC charging (versus 7,000mAh), and a lower IP64 rating. That said, this is not a new model as it is essentially the same as the A6t.
