The race to launch the sleevest foldable continues and the Oppo bus was found in the lead. We have seen a lot of phones, which have employed innovative designs and restructured internal structures to reach the bar phone sector and find Oppo N5 is the thinnest offering to date.
Find is coming as the much awaited successor for N3, the N5 makes it on top of almost every meaningful way starting with the design.
At 4.21 mm in its unfolded position, the Find N5 is barely thicker than the USB-C port, and when the 8.93 mm is turned back, the N5 takes the Crown as the thinnest book-style foldable phone.
In that context, the Honor Magic V3, which was the current Slimpson Champion, revealed 4.35 mm and twisted 9.3 mm, while the Galaxy Z fold 6 measures 5.6 mm and 12.1 mm respectively.
So how did Oppo reach here? All of this begins with the Titanium Flexian Kaja which is 26% smaller in size than the Kaja of N3, offering better stiffness. Oppo employed a mixture of a complex 3D-printed titanium wing panel and carbon fiber content to help keep the weight of N5 down to 229 grams.
The slim frame of N5 is close to up
The N5 is not only thin and light, but it is the world’s first IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 water resistance ratings for a foldable. This means that it can handle warm water and water jet with pressure to sink. The phone frame is made of 7000 chain aluminum.
The new Kaj helped in a long fight with a dreaded performance on the main panel. Oppo FHD+ went with 8.12-inch Ltpo OLED main screen with resolution and 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The panel gets 9.9: 9 aspect ratio and 2,100 nits of peak glow.
The 6.62 inch Ltpo OLED with FHD+ resolution and 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate is external screen. This panel claims 20.7: 9 aspect ratio and 2,450 nits peak brightness. Both screens are compatible with Oppo Pen Styles, which are sold separately.
Let us switch to the cameras where a trio of the Find N5 sensor is appointed and processing develops with the aid of Haselbad. The 50MP main cam gets a Lyt-700 sensor with 21 mm counterpart focal range and OIS. It is included by a 50MP periscope (Samsung JN5) equal to 70 mm with 3x optical zoom. The third shooter on the back is 8MP ultravide (15 mm) with autofocus capabilities.
The N5 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite – the Oppo went with a bined version with a low performance core. It has been paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage in the only version available in international markets.
The software side is covered by Coloros 15 based on Android 15. Oppo is pledging 4 -year Android version updates and 6 -year security patch. Find the N5 with 80W supervisor wired and 50W AirVooc wireless charging support with 5,600 mAh silicone carbon batteries.
Oppo Find N 5 will be available from Cosmic Black, Misty White and Dusk Purple Colors on 28 February. The latter will be China-infinite. The pricing is set to SGD2,499, which is converted to € 1,799 or £ 1,499. Pre-orders start from tomorrow.
